Fangraphs.com Batting Average Chart

Fangraphs generated a line graph of the batting average of Brian Roberts from 2001 to 2014. There are two lines on the graph. One represents Roberts batting average while the other represents the MLB league average. In 2001 and 2002, Roberts average fell below league average. These were his first two seasons in the Major Leagues. In 2003 and every season until 2011, Roberts' batting average was above the league average. In 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 his average fell below the league average once again. What might have happened between 2010 and 2011 to cause the drop off in average? In early 2011, Roberts suffered the second major concussion of his career. Some fans say he was never the same after this.
